Important pre and post care

Here are some really important things to know about the pre and post care of cosmetic tattoos. If you have booked an appointment , read this in its entirety and feel free to reach out directly by call, text, or email with any questions.

Check your skincare!

If you are using any anti aging products you HAVE to discontinue using them at least two weeks before coming in for your appointment. I am talking about retinols, glycolics, salycilics, vitamin c, and any related products. These products expedite the cell turnover rate, and leave the skin too compromised to properly accept and heal the tattoo. People use these products so casually I find that they don’t really even think of how they affect the skins structure or think it’s an exaggeration. I’m telling you it’s not. I have had people sign off no to using them, but when I’m tattooing and see how the skin is reacting the truth comes out. You will bruise, get red and I may need to stop the procedure. I will know. Please, for the best result possible prepare your skin for the best outcome. You are investing into your eyebrows. I will always do my very best to deliver, but I need the proper canvas to work on. Please continue to not use these products between your first and second appointment with me. Once you are fully healed from your touchup, if you choose to go back to using your products keep them as far away from the cosmetic tattoo as possible. The expedited cell turnover will cause the tattoo to fade prematurely and shift color. Your skin is your largest organ and it absorbs everything you touch! You have to keep product away from the tattoo because it will heat up and travel through the skin.

Do not come in with a sunburn or have been tanning. Your skin is too compromised to accept a tattoo. If avoiding tanning and sun is an issue, you may want to consider scheduling your tattoo in fall/winter. Once your eyebrows are fully healed after your touchup, I strongly suggest using spf on your tattoos going forward. Just like regular body tattoos, the sun will lighten and shift the color of your cosmetic tattoo.

Be prepared to avoid sweating, swimming, and saunas for close to 2 weeks. Our faces are filled with pores and produce oil as is. Do not do anything to kick up extra oil or sweat. We want your tattoo to stay locked in. Sweat and oil will cause the tattoo to blur out and heal much lighter.

I will give you very specific aftercare instructions at the end of your appointment. We go over them verbally so you may ask any questions, and I provide you with a written copy as well as the ointment I want you to use.

If you have any skin issues in the area to be tattooed, see a doctor before scheduling. Or if something comes up between when you booked and your appointment please reach out to reschedule. The healthier and stronger your skin is, the better you will heal.

The better you can adhere to these instructions the better your result will be. Cosmetic tattoos are done delicately, but you are still in fact getting a tattoo. Pigment will be implanted into your skin, and it is a small trauma to the skin. It NEEDS the proper care to heal correctly.
