Laura Mushenheim
Hi! I’m Laura, and I opened my small cosmetic tattoo business in 2017. I have been in the beauty industry since right out of high school, so about 20 years now! Makeup artistry was my first passion, but I also go my cosmetology and esthetic licenses to get my hands on as much as I could. Even as a makeup artist, I LOVED at the end of a makeup application doing the clients brows. They truly frame the face, and pull everything together. As I progressed through my career I specialized in lash extensions as well, and brow shaping, waxing, and tinting. Something about working on the eyes has always been so satisfying to me. Since I was young I have always loved tattoos and that culture. It was always a thought in my mind how cool it would be to combine what I do with tattoos, but for a long time the only permanent makeup out there hadn’t been done really well. Around 2015-2016 I started seeing microblading on instagram and my mind was blown! This was the perfect solution to give naturally fuller brows. When I looked into trainings, I wanted to make sure it would be worth my investment. I wanted to compare to others in the area to see what the market was like, however I couldn’t find anyone here in Pittsburgh offering it. So, I decided I wanted to jump on it. Got my certification i’m 2016 and got busy pretty quickly. I left the spa I was working at and opened La Marie Brow club in 2017. I advanced my education to be able to offer multiple types of cosmetic tattooing, as I became aware quickly that microblading does not work for a lot of skin types. I only use a cosmetic tattoo machine even when providing a hair stroke styled brows, and took advanced training to offer the “nano,” technique.
Once I learned how to use a cosmetic tattoo machine, I made it a personal goal to learn how to do realistic areola tattoos for breast cancer survivors. I trained and received my certification with The Sauler Institute of tattooing. Since completing that training, I am now a Sauler selected artist and work with them and the charity Sharshareet to provide qualifying women free areola and eyebrow tattoos to help give them back some of what cancer has taken from them. I absolutely love doing this work, and am truly inspired by the people I get to meet through tattooing them.
Since opening my shop, I have trained and employed different artists through the years. I have transitioned into kind of being a one woman show now. I opened a salon with my sister in law Jessica Schwarz called Brow and Crown Collective in 2022. This has taken me back to some of those services I did earlier in my career that I LOVE. It also gives me the opportunity to see my clients more often with brow grooming and eyelash services. Maybe I’m greedy, but I want to be your one and only brow girl!
When I’m not working nothing really makes me happier then watching Bravo tv on my recliner with my French bulldog Lucille, and Boston terrier Sherman. So please, if you book an appointment with me, lets talk about Vanderpump, Housewives, or Below Deck. I also love antiquing, and thrifting. Finding unique pieces gives so much sick satisfaction, and I love decorating my space with cool stuff you won’t see just anywhere. So come check out my shops!
